Imagine the desperation of families, particularly the elderly, in rural South Carolina, who must cope with inadequate housing.  Roofs that allow rain to pour in, broken windows open to the cold and wind, rotting floorboards, and leaning front stoops barely hanging on to the house itself—all conditions in which too many deserving low-income families find themselves.  These are our neighbors, our friends, our fellow citizens and like you and me, these families deserve safe, adequate housing in comfortable, healthy environments.

In response to this great need, and after deep and prolonged conversation with our many community partners, the United Methodist Relief Center is committed to a bold, new initiative: The Our Homes, Our Hope Campaign.  This community-wide effort will provide funds to increase and expand existing services to repair or replace substandard housing in our communities for those in need, like Lawrence and Sherry.
