So far this year, UMRC has worked with over 800 volunteers from all over the country on more than 40 homes.
A Few Completed UMRC Projects
Karen: UMRC completed the rehabilitation of Karen's home at the end of June 2009. Karen suffers from bipolar disorder, a broken back, and seizures. Her disabilities prevent her from working, but her spirit cannot be kept down. Karen's home received roofing repairs, new siding, porch and ramp repairs, window and doors sealing, and a brand new paint job. Karen picked Sunshine Yellow as the main exterior color for her home. Karen told UMRC that she picked this color to "eliminate the dark days," which will hopefully now be few and far between.
Margareen: Margareen is 72 years young. She has had a hip replacement and eye surgery, but she is still determined to keep her 1979 mobile home in great condition. With the help of UMRC, Margareen is now the proud owner of a fully renovated home. Her home received a new porch, exterior paint, roofing repair, ceiling replacements, new flooring, and sealed windows and doors. Now Margareen can easily keep her home in perfect condition.
A Few Current UMRC projects
Roscoe: Roscoe and his wife Roseanna have lived in the home for 40 years, and are in desperate need of termite control, insulation, drywall repair, and shower replacements.
Gwendolyn: Gwendolyn is a single mother living with her 16 year old daughter. Their home is receiving roof repair, rotten siding replacement, new drywall, and termite treatments.
Brenda: Brenda recently lost her job and is unable to pay for her home repairs. UMRC will be helping her by replacing her windows, repairing her roof, and adding vinyl siding to her home.
