Volunteer House

The “House for Helping Hands” was an answer to UMRC's prayers. Donated by Dr. & Mrs. Daniel Nixon, the house was moved from Sullivan’s Island to its present location in December of 1996. With generous donations, UMRC was able to fund the renovation project, and with the help of dedicated volunteers, UMRC was able to completely renovate the house to accommodate large volunteer groups.

The house was elevated to provide a large storage area on the first floor, and the third floor was redesigned into two dormitory style rooms. The house also boasts a fully outfitted kitchen, a meeting/eating area for at least 50 people, 5 bathrooms, and 17 sets of bunkbeds.

The Volunteer House greatly increases the ability of UMRC to provide housing for visiting teams. These dedicated and hard working individuals will no longer have to sleep in local campgrounds or on the concrete floors of churches. The cost of the Volunteer House is only $20 a night per person, in addition to the $75 per person materials fee.

If you would like to inquire about volunteering, or if you have usable, unwanted items for disposal, please e-mail terrisuiter@umrc.org or contact UMRC headquarters at 843.884.4860.
